How to Comfort a Teething Baby

How to Comfort a Teething Baby

Seeing your little one in pain is never easy, so it’s no wonder why teething can be such a stressful time for parents and grandparents alike. It’s important to know how to comfort your baby during this stage, so here are some tips on how to help make the process of teething as comfortable as possible for your little one.

Cold Items

Teething babies often find relief from cold items that they can chew on. Consider freezing a wet washcloth or giving them an icy cold spoon to gnaw on. There are also special teething toys that you can keep in the fridge and give to your baby when they start fussing. Just make sure that whatever item you give them is not too cold, as this could cause damage to their sensitive gums.

Gentle Massage

Gently massaging your baby's mouth and gums can provide some relief from the discomfort caused by emerging teeth. You can use a clean finger or even a damp cloth to do this; just make sure that you don't apply too much pressure, as this could cause more pain than it relieves.

Pain Relieving Gel

Many parents swear by numbing gel for teething babies, although it should be used sparingly and only with adult supervision since it contains benzocaine, which can be harmful if ingested in large amounts. However, if used sparingly and carefully, these gels can offer welcome relief for babies who are having trouble sleeping due to teething pain.

Distraction

Babies respond well to distraction techniques like playing music, reading books, or watching TV shows together—just make sure you keep the volume low enough that it won't bother their sensitive ears! Taking them out for a walk or playing with them outside in the sunshine can also help take their mind off of the discomfort of teething while still getting them some fresh air and exercise (which is always good!).

Comfort Items

Don't forget about comfort items like cuddly toys or blankies! If your baby already has something they enjoy snuggling up with during times of stress or discomfort, let them hold onto it while they're dealing with their teething pains—it might just provide enough comfort to see them through!

The process of teething isn't easy for babies—or their parents! But by using these tips, you'll be able to help your little one find comfort during this difficult stage of early childhood development without risking any harm coming their way due to incorrect use of over-the-counter medications or other remedies meant for adults only (like alcohol).

Keeping your baby safe and comfortable should always be top priority when dealing with any kind of minor ailment like teething pains!

Of course, we would always recommend one of our amazing teething gift sets or little teether products to help with your little humans teething, they are available in multiple colours; Pink, Grey, Green, Turquoise & Purple :)
